The Unit for Adult Education carries out consultant activities in the following areas: departmental organisation and continuing training; course planning and training activities; evaluation of training projects; production of pedagogic materials; information, dissemination of results; designing training courses and research; and advising.

The Unit for Adult Education carried out studies for education policies, namely for the Ministry of Education, of Cape Verde and of Portugal for the Commission on Education System Reform (1986-1988) and for the Task Force for the Development of Adult Education and Training (1999) made up of the Ministries of Education, Work and Solidarity.
